Firstly, I love people, I love photography and am truly passionate about portraits, both still image and motion picture.
I love how the human face is the gateway to our whole interconnected experience on this planet. I love that its expression is the single method of non-verbal communication that is understood across cultures, countries and constructed divides. That love is what inspired my ongoing passion project – The Most Amazing People.
As a creative portraits and headshots photographer – spending time with Hollywood’s most talented creatives from the Acting, Comedy, Dancing and Music industries is such a joy for me – especially when I capture that one shot that helps that Artist level-up in their industry.
I’ve been an Actor most of my life and… let’s be honest, it’s rare that you’ll only want to shoot one look when you get headshots though most times the costs are prohibitive for most. young actors still working a day job.
It’s for that reason exactly that I offer the UNLIMITED LOOKS package which allows you to get your entire collection of looks required for the next year or two… all in one session.
I believe you have to be relaxed and authentic to capture your best headshot. So I dedicate & pride myself to doing things differently to other photographers. Like allowing you more time and looks than is required creating a relaxed & gentle pace to help you get that shot within each look.
I believe that Artists value a photographer that trusts their creative genius.
I trust yours.
As an Actor myself, I would often, while having my own headshots taken, experience a feeling of disconnection with many of those photographers as they approached the shoot from an entirely technical perspective, not realizing that I’m there to capture my energy – which is exactly what I felt performing was ALL about!
So how could they possibly get my best shot?
Their robotic instruction was often soul-less. It all just seemed to lack that energetic connection between two people that was a huge part of ALL the work I had ever done on stage or screen and was important to me when paying a photographer to capture my essence.
So again, how could they possibly get my best headshot?
I feel it’s important for a photographer to have an ample understanding of the energy work that we, as performers, invest internally when creating our work, let alone the years of study most serious performers undergo.
And it didn’t feel good that those photographers didn’t trust that I was a seasoned professional who had spent those many years of my life honing my craft and studying my work diligently, tirelessly before I arrived at their studio.
Just like you, I imagine.
I believe that an amazing headshot truly portrays who you are each and every day and will do you the greatest service in your industry. So as happy as I am to retouch your images and make you look fantastic while clearing any blemishes – I won’t change how you look.
Now, obviously any spots, blemishes or redness will be repaired in your retouches but my goal is for your friends & family who know you best to see your new headshots and say
‘That’s the you I know.”
With my lifetime of experience in performing arts and my welcoming personal demeanor I know have a unique ability to help people feel instantly relaxed and just ‘be’.
…and so should be your headshots.
Casting professionals from all industries want to see who you really are – the actual person who walks in the room, not a photoshopped, over-beautified version of that person. When you walk through a door and the face they see is the face they expected from your headshot then there’s an instant rapport.
Heavily retouched photos might get you in those doors the first time, but if people see that the photo does not convey a true representation of who you are when you walk in that door, then there is a possibility that they could feel that your authentic vulnerable truth may not be present, and let’s face it – isn’t that where the magic happens as performers? Casting knows this.
In short, unrealistically portraying yourself in your headshots can really affect your chances of walking through those doors a second time.
Your face is not only your personal brand, but also the gateway to your personality and talent. I love meeting people where they already are and allowing the camera to capture the authenticity of you.
